A Bitter Sonnet

Topic:
Grief
|
I feel like dying:
the one I think I love yields no heart.
Lying in the damp mist I cry...
Shrieking to the Gods;
to them I bare my grief.
Take this burden from my soul and enlighten
me so that I may rise with thee.
Silence is thy reality.
Stricken from hope...
I plead to thee.
Merciless statues have you no compassion?!
They show no emotion...
I am forbade to enter the sacred realm.
Silent screams, tortured beings...
For this is my quest, my destiny, my fate.
I shalt not beg for the Gods to relinquish my
heartache.
Alas, I wish upon them one thing...a heart.
For if they contained a heart they would know
grief,
they would know how to suffer...
In this land a God is no higher than a
peasant.
Remembering the wicked earth...
I hold the peasant above thee deity...
for the peasant knows hardship and torment.
The Gods are ignorant to pain and love.
What is a heart with no blood...
