war

Beyond remembrance and imagination
A war too terrible for comprehension
Against pernicious tyranny, for salvation
To halt an evil rapacious ascension
Raged across desolate plains of earth
And in skies of turbid stormy chaos
Suffering pestilence and abject dearth
Perpetual terror and the agony of loss
Wingèd beasts of steal, soldiers iron valiant
Strove in bloody battle with a baleful foe
Identical but for moral alignment
And the beauty of the countries they know
Now in those selfsame lands ungratefully
We all do dwell in peace and prosperity.
