Tell me your story

Contributed by Archie on Saturday, 5th June 2004 @ 10:37:48 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Tell me your story;
how did you get here?
Tell me of your worries and your plight.
Tell me of your heartaches
and your life long histories
Tell me why you can not sleep at night.
If your life is that bad then say it
if the bastions of your heart are broken down
let us try to find the breach and mend it.
Let our lessons edify us and astound.

Tell me your story,
I really want to know;
for in knowing I can really be your friend.
If the story is too painful
I will try to help you through it.
I want you to know it's not the end.
Though I am far from perfect
and I often make mistakes
I will walk with you my family
even through the pouring rain
I will help you fill your sad story with laughter once again.
Then we can walk together til the end.

Written after reading the many poems of lost love and frienship on this site.
.

A very generous poem. I think I've said that before about your writing. It's lovely when words are uplifting.

Don't we all feel this way after seeing each other's naked souls? How did you get here? Why do you feel this? What has contributed? How were you affected? Poets are nosey creatures, aren't we? Well, it is our nature and it's really because we have such caring hearts.

It's so nice to read a poem like this. Sometimes I wonder whether poetry sites are just an excuse for all us self-absorbed, self-pitying souls to get together and cry out to one another about how terrible our own lives are. Yet here's something that sheds a much warmer light on everything. Like someone else said, I like the generosity you show here.
