Comprehension

Topic: selfstruggles

break against the walls they draw you
ever further ever closer
agitate your consciousness till
you don’t know what things defeat you
suffer silence suffer madness
great delusions once bestirred a
noble mind to let his guard down
now he muses in his sadness
how has life been so distorted
nothing left the way it should be
everything just passing quickly
hopes shed but desires hoarded
now it hits you like a boulder
they don’t see you as you see you
what seemed real was just perception
now you’re wise and now you’re older
now you know the unspoken truth and
so do i

You have a very mature voice in this one, Miss Wray, and i'm impressed. This was, to me, one of those poems that you read and then think "How come i never thought of that sooner?". It's funny, though, how the poem focuses on only the let down of realizing you aren't as good as you thought you were. Maybe in a few years, we'll get the optimistic conclusion where you find something that you enjoy doing for a living and succeed at it. :-) Peace. Butterat Zool.

Butterat_Zool I'm impressed - you understood the meaning of my poem spot on (despite my best efforts to cloud it behind vague words).

Future readers, take heed:
"the poem focuses on only the let down of realizing you aren't as good as you thought you were."

I suppose one day I'll get around to writing the next chapter - how I've finally realised after 19 years that you'll never really know how others perceive you and it's pointless to try or care - any efforts to try to find out inevitably lead to a sad goose chase and the irony of losing your real (and very wonderful) personality along the way anyway.
