The One She Let Go

She watches them walk away hand in hand and wipes a tear from her eye
He was supposed to be hers’ to hold and kiss, her guy
She’ll always love him
Even when her life grows dim
She’ll never forget the one who stole her heart
He had her right from the start
But he only used her to get to her best friend
Now she doesn’t know if her heart will mend
But as she glances at the happy two
She knows she can always begin anew
But this is her friend’s true love, where her heart truly lies
So she glances into her new guys’ eyes
And realizes it was for the best
They’ll always be the second best, so she’ll let it rest
