I hate when I am asked the question
What are your plans for later in life?
I can’t stand that question.
Can’t people see?
I’ve not got any big plans for the future.
I have a hard time dealing with the present.
My biggest plans for this week?
Make it through the week, without giving up, without crying too many more tears.
Without giving in to anger; punishing my friends with painful words from my sharp tongue.
Without drawing a knife across my pale flesh, just to watch myself bleed.
Again.
The song goes, “You bleed just to know you’re alive.”
I realize I bleed, but I’ve never felt less alive.
I want to give up, give in.
See what lies beyond the line that separates life from death.
I’ll see what it’s like to sink below the crashing waves of my angst, and drown myself in my sorrows.
A bittersweet end to a dreadful existence.

it brought tears to my eyes...maybe because it's so close to home... |

I like how you put detail into this poem.
I like how you expressed that it's not about the big picture that will happen in the future but it's the little things that will matter the most.
I like it. |
