For my mother

Contributed by Nightseer63 on Thursday, 3rd June 2004 @ 03:22:31 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I was not what you wanted.
I wondered what it was for a long time
The 'it' that was wrong and unloveable
I pretended never seeing you was just fine

But I missed you, growing up alone
So I pretended you were home
I made up a family of my own
but they couldn't hug me or teach me

Then I had a child a daughter an angel
and you took her away for three years
When she returned she was a stranger
Anger and confusion, and tears

Now your grave is clean and swept
and the flowers are pretty and fresh
but where was your heart kept?

I'll never see my grandson, neither will you
my daughter has her own life
Will my grave be kept clean someday too?
love hurts, and the heart sounds like crystal
when it breaks.

I love you mom. Happy Birthday anyway.
