An American Soldier

Contributed by vampy on Thursday, 3rd June 2004 @ 02:44:41 PM in AEST
Topic: war

For Nick:

Twenty years old
and life is finished.

Your name brought a face
to my mind;
I remember you.

You lived real close,
attended my school,
graduated with my sister.

I saw you that night,
in your green cap and gown,
smiling and speaking to friends.

Your embraces with loved ones,
your smiles and dreams,
all lost and ripped at the seams.

In all your memory,
you may never conjure up my face,
but I knew yours.

You should be alive,
laughing and joking,
experiencing beauty and fun.

Instead, you're dead,
two years after graduation,
a family has lost their only child.

Twenty years old
and life ended in Iraq.

GREAT DEDICATED POEM TO NICK, oh, how sometimes I wish that if we only knew in the future what would we had done or said. your poem touched home. My brother served over in IRAQ recently,he is at home in nc. a marine. no telling where he will be going in the future. hard times. will lift this family and you and friends up in prayer. may the good Lord bring you peace.
there is a scripture I like to share with you.

John 15
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.GOD IS SO PROUD. What a blessing.

I can totally relate to this....read Fallen Soldier its mine. My friend just died about 2 monthes ago in Iraq at 20 years old as well. I went to Jr. High with him. He had a heart of gold, always wanted to be a marine. He became one and they sent him away! He didnt want to die a hero, he just wanted to come home to his friends, family, and fiance. But sadly he didnt, he died in an ambush.
