Human Immounodeficiency Virus (HIV)

Contributed by Seans_Girl on Thursday, 3rd June 2004 @ 12:32:32 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I woke up one day happy and full of glee
I thought this day was the perfect day for me
I climbed out of my warm cozy bed
Dressed myself from toe to head
Ran down the cold wooden stairs
My stomach growled like some hungry bears
I went to the kitchen to find something to eat
When I remembered the doctor I had to meet
I grabbed my keys and went out the door
Got into my car that I would soon floor
I finally reached the doctor's office at last
My mother was there looking as if someone had passed
Standing beside her I took her hands
She is the only one who always understands
A doctor was standing directly next to me
As my mother led me to a chair that was free
Her hands grew tight as she looked into my eyes
There was something very wrong I could realize
She started by saying that she loved me
Then she paused and said "you have HIV"
I couldn't even believe a word that she said
My anger was about to erupt from my head
I got up from my chair and stormed through the door
Not wanting to hear the lies or to hurt anymore
This couldn't possibly be happening to me
I was just a teenager wanting to be free
I climbed into my car and pulled out of my parking space
Tearing through the lot to get out of this awful place
I opened the door of my house and went straight into my room
I would rather stay in here than live in a life of doom

Two Years Later
I was back at the doctor's office once again
To find out when my life was going to end
The doctor looked really sad and blue
Disappointed there was nothing he could do
He looked at me with tearful eyes
I knew there wasn't a good surprise
He said It would happen any day
All we could do was hope and pray
Just two weeks later I passed away
I was put into a coffin to decay
Everyday I would see my heartbroken mother
While hovering with the others undercover
I hope she knows I'm not hurting anymore
This is the life I have always dreamed for
"Mom, If you are listening, I love you so much!"
" I would do anything just to once again feel your touch."
