HEAR MY PRAYER

Contributed by lovingcritters on Wednesday, 2nd June 2004 @ 11:12:22 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

"HEAR MY PRAYER"

O' Great Spirit hear my prayer.
This is "Little Cave Bear" calling you.
Caves are my hiding place,
from the angry pale face.
They have killed my one man.
O' Great Spirit, find him if you can.

We have no where to go...
They kill our Buffalo.
Hunt us down like deer.
We hide like fawn in fear.

O' Great Spirit Mother Earth
They take our land,
No place to give birth.
Our babies die while we run
Our papooses are barren.

You can find me here
O' Great Mother Earth
I will live like a bear in a cave.
From this place I'll not be taken
When pale faces leave.
I'll come out only to grieve.

Hear my prayer O' Great One
What was it we have done?
When I was small many moons from this day.
My moccasins were happy to walk in our way.
Will we be free someday?
Please hear my prayer......
This is "Little Cave Bear" talking to you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WHEN THERE WAS WAR"
"I did not know then how much was ended.
When I look back now from this high hill of
my old age, I can still see the butchered woman
and children lying heaped and scattered all
along the crooked gulch as plain as when I
saw them with eyes still young. And I can see
that something else died there in the bloody
mud, and was buried in the blizzard. A people's
dream died there. It was a beautiful dream...
the nations hoop is broken, and scattered.
There is no center any longer, and the
sacred tree is dead.
~Black Elk~ Lakota~
"Buckets of Tears and Blood!"
May we never forget...............
My heart goes out to the Native Americans. They got the shaft big time. And they still are. My step-father was Indian and taught me many ways of the indians. I highly respect them because they tried to be one with the earth and didn't try to conquer it.Sorry, got off on a rant. Very good write, very descriptive of the plight of the indians.That, was it an article, at the end was the clincher. Kudos.
Yes the longest war in history....but all did not die, and Black Elk Speaks, to this very day.
Long and bitter trails, many tears, bitter/sweet victories, and the cold winter of death, Wounded Knee, but the circle is the circle and lives forever.
Beautiful Prayer, Thank you for sharing.
Chris
