Lament of the Separated

Contributed by adsalamon on Wednesday, 2nd June 2004 @ 07:29:13 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

PART I

The black angel takes your hand and leads you away
Its wings of fire beat a gentle arc, swirling patterns of flame
I hear the murmur on a breeze, Is it my name I hear you call?
The perfume smell still lingers on the evening breeze. As I stand
In the spot where I last saw you. Felt your embrace
The light from the window casts shadows on the wall
I’m sure I can still see your face, in the darkness I dream
At night I sit and stare at the stars up bright, like diamonds pure
Now just the wind my company as it I sit alone on a bench
As it brushes past my ear with a sigh, Is it you I can hear?
The night birds sing their lament for the departed, the separated

PART II

Sitting in the bath where I can get some peace at last. The sting of my wrist fades to a dull throb as the water ebbs crimson. The phone is ringing but I can’t take that call, I’m on a journey to paradise.
Life like a sandcastle on the beach; eroding.
The photo falls from my trembling hand. The image of you in the garden shoots through my mind like a needle piercing skin. The sun beating down on your face with the smile that could ignite a thousand candles.
I twist in the red pool of misery as the pain charges in with renewed vigour. The blackness erupts all around. My breath slows to a drawl as I reach out into space grasping for someone, something, for you..
Then Nothingness

wow I think this poem just pierced my heart with the aching emotion portrayed in your words. I am still shaking my head in awe... that was awesome...
