Silver Ring

Topic: LovePoetry

Do you remember not that long ago
(It would be two years, come this spring)
When I took your small hand into mine
And I slipped on that Silver Ring?

We know what’s all happened since then
All the good times, and even the bad
But it still made us who we are now
It was the best love that I’ve ever had.

It’s time to bring that time back again
You still have my heart and everything
And though it will take us a while
I still commit to you, that Silver Ring.

It’s a promise that you thought I had broke
But for some reason, I’d just lost my way
It took me leaving all that I loved
To realize how much I wanted to stay.

I don’t know how I’ll make it all up to you
For my mistakes, I don’t deserve one thing
But I’m trying with each breath that I have
I want you someday wearing that Silver Ring.

I realize you need some more proof
That it will take much more than just talk
I promise that I’m an awakened man
I’m talking, and I’m walking the walk.

I can back up every word that I’ve said
If I had a voice, for you I would sing
I will make you understand in good time
When your truly wearing that Silver Ring.

Until that day comes around once again
I’ve found some comfort in just one thing
I’ve carried it close with me each day
Until then, I’ll wear your Silver Ring.
