Why are we so cruel to those who make us who we are?
Why do we see a stranger then shut the door?
Why are we so scared to let our feelings show through?
Why are we so scared by the fact that others have feelings too?
Why do we ridicule those who are different?
Why are we so afraid to let our feelings vent?
Why do we stereotype and go by what things seem?
Why do we say we're Americans then forget what that means?
If we were just to be honest with others and our selves,
If we didn't speculate and took the time to learn others true selves.
America could finally be,
The Land of the Proud and Free.

You are very thought provoking in your poetry. You take on very serious subjects. This poem was hard to read though, it didnt flow quite well. I enjoy reading your thoughts regrdless. ;) |
