Humanity of the Vampire

Contributed by evilfairy on Tuesday, 1st June 2004 @ 12:50:58 AM in AEST
Topic: mythology

Darkness is my daylight
The evening is my dawn
I can see beyond your sight
I was there the day you were born.

I see beauty behind the grime
A mere thought can touch my soul.
I’ve been given the gift of time
And I shall never grow old.

More than a rainbow before me
Those sounds that can’t be heard
Are given the gift of life – set free
I have more knowledge than can be learned.

However irony cloaks my nights
It invades my immortal bliss.
I see the world from dizzying heights
But of life I can only reminisce.

Never again will I feel
Exhilaration at that first touch.
I live in a world that’s surreal
But for your life I would give so much.

To feel reality for a moment
You cannot fully understand
How I long to end this abandonment
Things have not worked out as planned.

For I have sacrificed
I have given away
I have been enticed
I have been led astray.

Now so far from God
And still no closer to Hell.
This beauty is a façade
In a private hell, I dwell.

So come close to me now.
Let me feel your warm breath
Press my iced lips upon your brow
Such is the kiss of death.

And for a moment fleeting
I will live once more
Through you I am cheating
And I have a soul – one moment more.

I thought that this would be something like the vampire poem I've wrote, but it ended up being more original and almost as rhythmic. Great R&R, as usual, with some neat images thrown in for good measure.

"This beauty is a façade
In a private hell, I dwell."

Very well done.
Keep writing.
