Suitcases

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Monday, 31st May 2004 @ 11:07:12 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

We carry so very much with us
Like overstuffed suitcases we exist
And when we find ourselves
Poking around inside
It can be devastating

We find what won’t fit anymore
What we were searching for
And when we look underneath
Rifling into the past
It feels a bit alarming

We find things tattered and worn
And things we put away new
And when we dare to open up
Digging deep inside
It is most astonishing

We’ve carried what we need
Holding on for unknown reasons
And when we recognize why
Bearing the truth
It’s almost overwhelming

We kept it all for something
And we packed it away purposely
And when we find courage
Seeing it clearly
It can be so fulfilling

We can then find the strength
To destroy what we don’t need
And when we feel brave
Letting it all go
It feels most rewarding

We understand the reasons
For the baggage that we’ve held
And when the answers come
Letting us move on
It is simply everything

Yes, all that excess baggage we carry around just because we cannot deal with it at the time. I find in my stronger moments when I do have the strength that some of it worked itself out. Maybe sometimes it is best to sit it aside for later. Great write.

You dont know how much truth the last stanza holds.

"Letting us move on
It is simply everything"

Yes it is. :) It's all we've loved and lost, lived and learned, wished and hoped and set free. You wrote this fabulously. Thank you for sharing.

This is the reason why I still carry my suitcase around, hoping and praying that answers will come soon. I have faith that they will- you have written a very powerful piece, it brought me to a phase of understanding, and for that I am very grateful. Wonderful!
