First Love

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Sunday, 30th May 2004 @ 11:18:56 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

It was so simple then
Our hearts were laid bare
The future was uncluttered
And life seemed fair

Magic then existed
In wonderful simplicity
We leapt into the unknown
Not knowing hesitancy

Holding one another
But only - by the hand
Playing in the blue moonlight
We could barely stand

We knew whispers
But not yet how to scream
We simply gazed at one other
Daring so to dream

Promising forever
Before our youth had gone
Wanting for so very little and
Wishing ever on

As time rolled by
We fell victim to our age
Learning fear and impatience
Simple was upstaged

We held on tight
Against the nameless force
But eventually we had to give in
Heavy with remorse

It had been perfect
The way it truly ought to be
And never will I forgive time
For taking it from me

Very poignant. What a grievous thing first love can be! Yet so bright.
Excellent piece.

Losing your first love is the worst feeling in the world. I havent really lost him yet, as we have never actually been together, but he is my best friend and I am head over heels. And it still hurts everyday. I hope the would heals and you are no longer a victim of that first love. You wrote about it wonderfully. Well done.

Lindsey

This is a wonderful piece...our first love, innocent and pure, will always haunt us. We wonder what might have been. Sometimes, we are allowed by fate to re-connect with that love and discover it is still as strong as it was then.
When fate smiles, there is little that can stand in its way.
Hopefully, you will find your way back to the simpler time and to that first love...and everything will be just right...
PM30...been there...
