Take Me Back (In Time)

Contributed by msnider on Saturday, 29th May 2004 @ 02:49:29 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Much has changed
Since I was young
When days were long
And time would last
Eternally.

Take me back
To summer days
To child's lives
And child's ways.
Give me youth
And set me free.
My troubled mind
Endanger's me.

Now time runs short
It's brief struggle
Leaves me lying
On my back -
Alone.

Take me back
Where I can run
Light and carefree
In the sun.
And let its rays
Pour warmth in me.
This empty heart
Is withering.

Now without knowing
What's to come
I will live and time will leave
And I will shed a tear for each past
Memory.

Take me back
To school field trips
To bumper cars
And kool-aid lips.
And peel awake
These tear worn eyes
For deep inside
A child lies.

Please hold me close
I ache with fear
Of leaving things
I deem so dear.

If only I
Could press rewind
And find the time
I've left behind.

Very heartfelt poem you got there...I enjoyed reading it finding pieces of how I feel throughout the write.Just remember that the present has yet many more memories for the futur days to fall back on but that's what makes life so beautiful...God bless,
