Erratic Serenity

Contributed by reprobate on Saturday, 29th May 2004 @ 10:27:55 AM in AEST
Topic: insomniac

A dim ember reveals itself as an eerie glow
Enveloping a hand floating through shadow
A course exhale and dull burn, the only sound
Strange comfort witnessed within lethargy

Repetition reenergizes the ruby-like cast
Unlit silence disturbed only by these labors
The self-imposed seclusion restored
As the darkness regains it's grip over sight

Wading through the day's hermitic ignorance
Nothing expected and surely less found
Laconic reflection in this shroud of gloom
Broken by a pale coal and care-less smoke

Uncertain calm denies frayed thoughts
Washing unruly distress in deserted silence
Today being lost to the past so willingly
No thought given, nothing but indolent murk

Apathy for the now lost and to come is borne
Response to a need for respite, for calm
Rails against that which now stands before
No reply to be had for the what of tommorow

love the title... this is so beautifully expressed and the
images and winding words are exquisite, unlit silence::
such thought provoking usage, ...everything flows and
reads like true poetry should:)
