Freedom

Contributed by twisterchaser on Friday, 28th May 2004 @ 09:20:24 PM in AEST
Topic: war

The very first time I was born; was in a garden in the east of Eden.
God breathed a breath into me, and I became a living soul, unto all the
world I was to be called freedom.

Down through time men became angry and wars rage,
The water turn red, blood spilled from men of all age.
Countless time I was reborn, grew but never was I to become old.
Heart ache and blood shed was the key to my future, whether shy, timid, reckless, or bold.

I was born in the Moors of Ireland, the outback of Australia, across the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, to the  fertile fields of the wide American plains.
I was born on ships, airplanes, in canoes, barges, automobiles, even trains.

On countless beaches, rivers, and plains,  the place may be different yet always the same,
always am I born in the brain of men.
conceived in the heart, watered by blood,
sweat and tears, all of these causing pain.
Yes my name is Freedom, I am in all brave hearts,
I am reborn over and over never to depart.
Form the first breath of life,
unto the last day of strife.
May there be a glimmer of light; so for all the oppressed people of the world may it burn bright.

An inspiring read. May we all find our own freedom in this world, whatever that freedom may be.

Great read, and truly heartfelt

I hope the bells of freedom one day ring for the entire world. It is a dream, but miracles do happen sometimes. This is a great write, Andy.
