The pendulum swings...
teeters...
falls...
Into a timeless abyss as the morning dove calls.
That baleful orb greets the day,
And a bloody sunrise suffuses the sky,
Touching with light the bodies that lay
All around-- they scream, curse, cry.
Are there no silent angels gracing the fields?
Their lonely deaths to good Satan must yield,
For the absent seraphs' immortal breath steals hope--
That frail lifeline to which I cling like a rope.
