I've lost my rainbows
there is no red anymore
just pinker shades of gray
there is no orange anymore
only bits of sun-tinged gray
there is no yellow anymore
merely softer tan-type gray
there is no green anymore
just minty hues of gray
there is no blue anymore
only sky-laced hints of gray
there is no purple anymore
simply eggplant tints of gray
there is no rainbow but gray--
there has never been anything but gray.

This reminds me of the beginning of one of my poems (misleadingly entitled "Ode To A Midget--the name's from a great friend of mine & she's rather silly at times).
I've noticed sometimes that the world seems this way, though I don't generally dwell on it much. Your poem is one that holds great meaning expressed exquisitely by your literally and metaphoricly colorful words.
Bravo and encore!!!
Love,
Chelsea |

Ah... yes... the grey. I know it well. You'll find it in my work too. I love this and can absolutely relate.
Never fear Nora... grey is a temporary state. Visit a while... wallow in it even... sometimes you just need to. The most wonderful thing is - some great poetry can be born of that grey feeling. This is a shining example of that. Very, very nicely done. |

How often clouds cross our sky! But they are moving, even when they seem to stand still. Day will come again, as my signature is always saying. I believe it! This world is not gray, but vivid with color (much of it darkness, alas, but some of it bright light). I think the fog arises from our own hearts. Why it does so, much as it saddens us, I do not know. I know only that we struggle for light and color, but that our very desire for it may oft cloud it. Hang in there, my friend. If we struggle toward the Light, we must get closer as we go. Perhaps when the clouds part it will be closer and brighter.
Blessings

Chase the grey away with hope SD. This was lovely, but oh so sad and hopeless!
Look to the little things.......the little rainbows, such as a very good cup of coffee, or a walk in the rain. Appreciate the small things.....and you're rainbows will appear again. I promise
love this

Nora...this is such a heartwrenching poem, and I of all people know exactly how you feel. I know things can seem bleak and aphotic, but you have to weather the dark storm clouds to see the sun shine again.
With love, CEGHs and everything we've shared,
-Dan |

Well that was thoroughly depressing.
Needless to say, I quite liked it. But surprised to see it from you. But, as Jeff says, you hide yourself from everyone, so how should I know what to expect? Love it though. *hugs*

Nora,
I felt every line of this in my bones! This was excellently written and I think everyone feels this way at least once in their lives. I know I have. The past few days have been some of the grayest. Thank you for sharing this Nora. It's like you read that straight out of my heart.

My most favorite thing in nature is the RAINBOW. how beautyful it is.
I liked your poem because you taken the rainbow the beauty of it . and showed that your not in a good mood so you cant see its beauty anymore. so it is sad. I hope it gets better... take care sandy |

Your titles always say, "Read me"
I felt depression and a feelings of despondancy emitting from this poem.
Today and yesterday might and may have been gray Nora but tomorrow is waiting in the shadows and the future is 'round the next bend. The great thing about life is you never know when you'll step into a rainbow and be flooded with all the good things. It does happen.
You have not only maturity but so much depth for one so young. It is like someone my own age resides inside your body.
As for not keeping our deal, that poem I submitted was an old one. When I write a new one oh I will let ya know. I just grabbed that from the old lady's archives. :)
You write so well at this age I can only imagine you writing at thirty. It will be on a level most only dream of.
Don't ever give up writing it would be a loss to the world.
