My Prayer

It’s a simple prayer I pray,
That I may start each waking day,
With a mind to call my own,
And not one out on loan,
To the fairies in my garden,
Who never ask my pardon,
For my thoughts when they think me,
My words when they speak me,
My dreams when they take me,
Or when nightmares awake me.
And all the while……
In the wards the doctors come and go,
And none of them knows I’m Michelangelo
