The Black Rose

Contributed by LittleWillow on Thursday, 27th May 2004 @ 09:02:16 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

the clouds turn to ashes
the rain turns to smoke
the tears turn to oil
as you walk by your lover
lying in a bed of roses
blood red pieces of fingernail petals
dried, cracked marbles with waters running thin
thorns prick the warped skin
skin of tattered holes, dirty blood spattered everywhere
stems for teeth and leaves for tongue
they're looking at the sky
thick juices pour from nose and mouth
as they plead for sanctuary
the blue sky turns crimson
the trees fall to become naked
the tears turn to mud
as you watch your lover
lying in a bed of roses
the roses turn black
one single rose rises above the others,
above your lover
the wilted, crippled petals fall, and hit your lover's sunken cheeks
each petal a sharp shock of death as it lands
the sky is muddy
the fate is bloody
the tears become fire, and they burn your cheeks
your eyes turn a stone cold ice
as you leave your lover
leave them there
lying in a bed of black roses
