Her Soul Dimming

Contributed by phildel on Friday, 11th October 2002 @ 11:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

By the opal light in my room,
She sits, unwilling to move,
Fading with an unquenched thirst,
I could never soothe.

My poor sweet Cassandra,
Sister of all youthful dreams,
We have shared out laughter
And now, we share our haunting screams.

I watch her face grow paler
In the absence of his care,
And sometimes she will talk
As if he were still all there.

I know the intricacies of her mind,
Weighed out the portions of her soul
And I know without a doubt this
Loss will devour her whole.

Him diseased and dying,
Her own cries underpinning...
I am forced to watch him die,
And watch her poor soul dimming.
