We get what we want
In simple ways,
Time testing faith.
I have watched it slip,
I have burned my fingers raw
At the flame
Of sometimes passion,
More often pain.
But playing and fore,
I watch what I want
Ease and breathe
And sometimes fail.
All the while
Stretching the skin
Of my belief.
I have watched it fade
And reappear
When, in simple ways,
We get what we want
Through divine intervention
And sweet patience.
