It Wasn’t A Love Affaire, It Was A Duel

Darling, if you’ll remember correctly:
It wasn’t pale moonlight, but fading neon.
It wasn’t a kiss but a thrust.
It wasn’t a waltz; it was footwork.
It wasn’t my name you called out in the dark, but 911.
How can I make promises while you’re keeping score?
The bottom line is: a sabre’s distance
Is too close for comfort in a duel
But light years away in love.
Yet both require dancing slippers
And gloves.

Now, this is a write that is full and yet mysterious enough to make me want more.
Fascinating.

I liked this poem. Not too heavy on the emotion, and just enough mystery to make it an interesting read.
I didn't care for the 911, but the meaning was cool.
Nice poem
