Literary States of Mind*

Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Let's take a quiz in Geography around the U.S.A.....
To see if you can identify several States of Minds along the way.
The "Pelican State" is where we come to have a swinging good time,
Not only that, it's a really nice place to dine.
It's a place where a new found friend resides,
The State Flower is the Magnolia, a scent so delicate and sweet....
It's intoxicating fragrance will sweep you off your feet.

The "Sagebrush State" is our next stop, can you tell me where we are?
Another friend lives here, although we are very far apart in distance,
Our Spirits are very near.
Realizing that all writings are not always Sunshine and Flowers,
There are stories that tear at your heart, tears seem to flow for hours.
Rest assured "Sagebrush State", you have friends who care and understand....
To help lift that childhood burden, to help you when we can.

Next stop is the "Garden State", where the Purple Violet grows....
A place where you can eat all the fresh vegetables you want.
What a healthy way to go.
There's someone who resides here, who loves writing poetry.
Sitting with pen and paper...feeling happy as can be.
Knowing that I've made someone smile, it really pleases me.
Sometimes while on our Literary Journey, tears fall, it makes us sad...
To know that for everything good in this world, we sometimes experience the bad.
Yet knowing that there are friends, willing to help us along the way,
My "Literary Angels", thank you for making my day.

My last State of Mind is the "Empire State", who stands so strong and tall,
Climb onto his wings as he soars back in time, he'll never let you fall.
My friend can spin a tale or two, he'll keep you mesmerized.
One can feel themselves traveling there, while looking into his eyes.
I refer to him as Mr Wizard, he's a true friend indeed.
Nothing but words of encouragement in anytime of need.
This friend of ours he always somehow makes you feel much better.....
Mr. Wizard is the calm after the storm, in the most unpleasant weather.

Which ever persons pass this test, there's a treat in store.
You get to travel with the entire State of Minds, you'll have fun and so much more.
While we're on our journey, we'll be lobbying hard....trying to fix,
Fix it so we can pick up the other forty-six.
There are several rules, as follows....
You must be caring, courteous, helpful and kind,
To join us on our Escapades of the Four Literary States of Mind!

Study, Study, Study!

Glo I know too little about the US of A to tell what states you mean. I can comment on the poetry though a very good write. It is nice to know that one has friends even if they live miles away.

Hi there Glo.....really enjoyed your poem!
I should know all the states of the USA, I've been in every single one. I know the Garden State is yours and that's New Jersey, the Sagebrush state could Wyoming.....we have lots of sagebrush here? Perhaps it's Nebraska, that's sagebrushy too! Then might it be Georgia....., perhaps Florida...never did know states from their point of view? Everyone knows the "Big Apple" I lived there once.....that's the Empire State for sure!
What's the prize........having you back is prize enough for me.
Loved your poem
