Love and loneliness

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Maybe this whole thing is an act
Or a crazy, vivid dream
Running in a race that has no end
But I don’t seem to be running out of energy
“You don’t know what love is” they say
As if deep down we really are supposed to know
Maybe love is a ***** up fear
That appreciation of having someone near
Twisting your mind and drowning you in confusion
My illogical theory with no conclusion
There’s a sign in the darkened corridor of passion
Reading “leave your emotions at the door”
Spraying the room in a scent you adore
Inside she’ll sit and wait for you
Going by the name of “Loneliness”
Beckoning you to come forward into the room
Wrapping you in sheets of tempting mystery
A deadly dance that leaves you bare
And she’ll sit back down without a care
That tiny voice inside your mind screaming” never again”
Running down the corridor from the exposure
Screaming with a new found fear of Loneliness
Freed from her naïve, sweet clutches
Tears of contempt roll down her cheek
As she watches the departure of the flavour of the week
Loneliness needs a partner, a companion
Anyone but you, you’ll say, just anyone but you
So love will take you by the hand
And lead you slowly away
As long as we don’t die alone, I’m sure we’ll be okay
Remove the ignorance, coat by coat
Someday she’ll leave this place and elope
I’ll breathe in gas until the oxygen stops choking me
So why do we love, if not out of fear?
Where loneliness is no longer welcomed here
One day soon, when one layer is enough
Loneliness will thaw and fall in love.
