FEAR OF MAN?

Contributed by lovingcritters on Tuesday, 25th May 2004 @ 01:46:08 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

"FEAR OF MAN?"

World of little love,
a world of little kindness,
society of people where
power rules, fear of man
full of cruelness, will you
give into power and
the fear of man? do their
bidding? even when you know
it is wrong? give them
your integrity, or take a
stand, be courgeous? each
has a choice, which will
it be? are you able to
live by your conscience?
to say "No" when given
no other preference? with
power and authority come
the right of intimidation,
pushing your buttons,
until they find the successful
one. will it be money?
your job? what are you willing
to sacrifice? if presented
with accusations of wrong
doing, you are innocent, are
you willing to face them eye
to eye, and plead your innocence?
or do you give in and
accept their bidding? your
opinion should be heard,
it's your right! standing in
the sunlight of your honesty
and soul? or hiding in the
darkness of the night?
looking back with hindsight,
wishing you had instead,
taken a stand, as you look
yourself in the mirror
each day, do you see a
person not afraid of man?
character, own your mind?
never willing to compromise
your principles before it
even began? if you can
answer yes to these
most perplexing situations,
then my friend you are a man
strong, never willing to
relinquish your true self,
your true soul, your
integrity for any bargains!

This was a good poem that got me thinking about conformity. I don't think that we should conform, but sometimes, no matter how loud or how frequently you speak up, people's hearts are cold to what you have to say. It is then that it is no longer a positive thing for either person to continue a disagreement. Thanks for getting me thinking. Deep poem.

Connie you have wrote a poem on civil courage. something that not many people have. The courage to stand up for oneself and one's fellow man/woman. This rare gift is a blessing and has brought forth right through history citizens such as Dr. Martin Luther King just to mention one. There are of course many others most not so spectacular but in every day walks of life they help to keep this world civilised. Bless you Hugs

bernard.
