My job sucks (that’s the deal)
like wing-less ducks so surreal.
Torture and pain in an endless way
come down like rain when I enter each day.
The not-so-funny expanding docket
so I can stuff money into my pocket.
Must feed the family: my kids, my wife.
Here so damnly spending most of my life.
Another day another dollar another deep sigh
as days ends’ slow crawler hardly is nigh.
To hear that whistle once five the clock’s struck
I’m wading thru thistle and I’m just out of luck
cause I am still working while most have gone
and boss boss is lurking for I am a pawn!
Oh woe is me and woe I know.
I’ll never be free (and I’ll never be Poe).
I’ll never just quit and bask in the sun.
My teeth I’ll just grit and do something fun.
I’ll climb ‘round this woe tree up here on this knob
and just write some poetry sitting here at my job.

I AM RIGHT WITH YOU!!!!! (How I wish it weren't true). As I sit here typing a comment to you... many, many, many people are waiting for me to do something else! Truth be told - I really ought to do so... but...
And POE... you referenced my friend Edgar! How wonderful! He's a favorite of mine. : )
Nicely done... I can (*sob*) totally relate! |
