If I lived in a fairy tale,
it wouldn't be happily ever after;
but maybe, just maybe,
I'd be able to smile
at least once in a while.
If I lived in a fairy tale,
it wouldn't be green fields and blue skies;
but maybe, just maybe,
it'd stop raining for an hour,
or slow to a small shower.
If I lived in a fairy tale,
there would be no prince charming;
but maybe, just maybe,
someone who'd see past the scars,
and tear down these awful bars.
If I lived in a fairy tale,
there would be no magical kiss;
but maybe, just maybe,
someone would hold my hand,
and even, if only a little, understand.
If I lived in a fairy tale,
I wouldn't be a beautiful princess;
but maybe, just maybe,
my scars would be less brilliant,
and become just a fragment.
If I lived in a fairy tale,
life wouldn't be the perfect story;
but maybe, just maybe,
there'd be a few moments,
and peace of a real substance.
And I'd pray for a fairy tale
if I thought it t'were possible.
And I'd scream for a fairy tale
if my words weren't so tearful.
But I'm locked here in a nightmare,
in the living waking dead.
And I know that you don't care,
how much of my blood is shed.
If I could purchase a fairy tale,
I'd bleed the price of happiness.
If I could earn a fairy tale,
I'd render red this clear canvas.
But fairy tales are fairy tales,
and my life is my life.
And fairy tales are just fairy tales,
meant for one free from this horrid knife.
