Waking from a Sleepless Life

Contributed by Soulless on Monday, 24th May 2004 @ 09:21:57 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

At dusk I saw a little girl by a lonely river
Her small frail hands rippled through poisoned water
Branching into separate dreams of her desire
She turned to me and asked

Are you sleeping?

Her eyes glittered into the sparkling wishes
I couldn’t speak but only stare in wonder
I backed away as my heart gave a flutter
I gazed back but eyes were there no longer

Do you fear of what's behind the light

Her eyelids opened and there lay behold
Nothing stared back but empty holes
Basking in endless fright of sweetness
She closed her eyes and whispered in the darkness

Are you dreaming now?

Just close your eyes
And what you want ill be
Just turn away
And make believe

It’s not the ending
Only the beginning

Her fragile body turns to the watery grave
Falls within the silvery light
Imaginary roses float up in serenity
To greet the freshly fallen night

Just close your eyes
And what you want ill be
Just turn away
And make believe

It’s not the ending
Only the beginning

Her pale face is peeling
As the beauty engulfs her
But turn around and I here her screaming
And then a dull whisper

You were never sleeping
Only just awaking

for lack of a less cheesy word, that was mesmerizing. i've rarely had a scrawl take hold of me like that. the placement and usage of certain words truly made this impossible to leave unfinished. amazing.
