The Fairy I hugged

Contributed by norm on Sunday, 23rd May 2004 @ 08:22:15 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Down by the river in a cozy, dozy spot,
I lived for a day when it got too hot.
The egrets swooped to grab their lunch,
and the marshweeds grew an expansive bunch.

It is there, I met my fairy friend,
With blue-green eyes and lips that bend.
It is there I kissed my lifetime's first,
Emotional explosions within me burst.

We danced and hugged from morn til four,
She told to me she did adore,
My merry eyes and rosy cheeks
And at me she had taken peeks.

Precisely four, she disappeared,
And that was that is what I feared,
And ne'er again would I re-see
my fairy friend so fancy free.

My friends all laughed, thought I was daft,
They thought to put me on a raft
And send me off to fairyland
So I could see my fairy grand.

Why can't our friends accept our dreams,
And love our fancy diamond gleams,
Must pragmatism rule the day
And must we keep our dreams at bay?

I tell you this, I will not shrug,
I did, my dancing fairy hug,
Share your teehees t'wixt between,
My dancing fairy, I have seen

Oh, you know I do believe
don't ever fret
or feel bereaved
If fairies come to
dance with you
you are blessed
with the dreams
of two!
Stitch

What a brilliant idea for a poem........and never you fear dear Norm, 'cause I believe your fairy tale, after all who was there? Just you two, am I right! What a day of adventure, what a day of fun. I've always wished I could dance with a fairy someday.......but unlike you I know I'd never tell.......they'd call me a liar for sure. I hope she comes back again real soon. We all need dreams for real not just to assume!
Bravo.......Norm......this is one of your best!
love
