Maybe you'd be more reassuring.
If only you knew how upset I am,
Maybe you'd be calmer with me.
If only you knew how scared I am,
Maybe you'd be more patient.
If only you knew how much I've already been through,
Maybe you'd respect me more.
If only you knew how much certain things have affected me,
Maybe you'd be more careful.
If only you knew how fragile I really am,
Maybe you'd be gentler with me.
If only you knew how hard I try,
Maybe you'd give me a break sometimes.
If only you knew how I long to be free from everything that chains my soul,
Maybe you'd quit playing with those chains and shattering my dreams.
And last of all, if only you knew how much I love you,
Maybe you'd understand.
