Disappointment

Contributed by carmen_queasy on Saturday, 22nd May 2004 @ 10:11:01 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

You fill the airless room with the heaviness of your frustrated sigh
About as painful as a thousand goodbyes
They feed me, tease me, stab me relentlessly,
Because I’m relentless,
She’ll do well, she’s got the brains
She engraves her name in your week old blood stain
My emotionally inept child
She fell too fast
It’s all I fear
That when I look into her eyes they’ll scream
“Get me out of here”
You dig your nails into me like a paranoid kitten
You fail to see the blood you draw
Am I just naïve to the core?
You can’t see it but I can feel it
Your stare cuts through me like freshly sharpened knives
I won’t let you see the scars
In fear of losing all I have
She can’t see it but she’s about to get stabbed
Repeatedly in the small of her back
Inject your brand new addiction directly in my veins
I wish you could see it’s something I believe in
I promise you’re not losing me
You fill the emotionless room with the heaviness of your saddened sigh
Your disappointment makes me
Want to die.
