Canto della Kalsa

LoveRemembered

We sipped from cups of ether
Each of us bending low
As you breathed your dream to me,
Heavy heaven on my ear.
« The world on a raft goes by.
We stand beside the waters of Babylon
Foreigners in the Promised Land
But strangers to the Exile. »
Fault sought, such an easy find.
It was I who sailed away
Or so you say.
The end is poetry that way.
But you knew I loved the Norman Kings of Sicily
I nursed them from the start
And mourned when their banners came down,
As Arab geographers the royal architects crowned.
The wind in your words swell my sails
And our promises drift away.
Yours the inland riverbeds,
Mine a never-ending journey
And a sweet, sweet song on the rise.

"The wind in your words swell my sails
And our promises drift away"
That's two lines I pick out in a mesmeric array of finery.
Engrossing stuff. |

Impressive artistry here! I like it, and its references to events of ancient days. They give the piece a depth of time and a sort of grandeur. Beautiful!
