Where Did The Sorrow Escape To?

Contributed by springchic1979 on Wednesday, 9th October 2002 @ 09:15:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

i could not bring myself to mourn
when Sadness passed away.
it was with the best intentions
i slew him where he lay.

the Winds of Woe sang strong their tune--
Clouds gave the elegy--
the Willows wept; their echoes rang
from mountain top to sea--

Heaven burst forth her saltless tears--
but me, i could not cry.
it seems i was the only one
who wanted Grief to die.

i tried to vanquish Bereavement.
i tried to ease the Pain.
it took some time to realize
my efforts were in vain.

my heart was more than willing.
their minds would not let go.
hard as i fought to free the world
the more Despair did grow.

Dolor managed to free itself.
i failed to keep my grasp.
with only two small, mortal hands
it broke the weakened clasp.

i could not rid the world's Heartache
nor defeat Agony.
i did not have the strength to kill
what causes Misery.

somewhere nearby is Suffering.
somewhere Anguish does thrive.
true harmony will not exist
while Malaise is alive.

where did the Sorrow escape to?
i hope you will agree
to take a look inside yourself
and tell me what you see.

hmmm..does it matter where the sorrow went as long as it's gone?? I'd say yes..because..in truth it's only hiding...I suppose it's just something we cannot escape..

Hehe, thank you Valerie, I had to learn how this site worked (and not post in the main forums, LoL). It is quite a unique setup; very different then what I am used to. I think its great that each poet gets their own little page.

I am glad you liked my poem Valerie and thank you for taking the time to leave me a little message. :)

Aye Lia, sadly it is something no one can really escape. At times we maybe able to ignore it, push it aside, or bury it deep within, but in truth it is STILL there....
