Sifting

Contributed by gobyrandom on Wednesday, 9th October 2002 @ 06:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sifting through the ashes as I look for dust
Sifting through my past as I look for trust
Sifting through the sand as I look for dirt
Sifting through my pain as I look for hurt
Sifting through plenty as I look for enough
Sifting through my heart as I look for love
Sifting through the sky as i look for stars
Sifting through my souls as I look for scars
Sifting through the lies as I look for honesty
Sifting through you as I look for me
Sifting through the silence as I look for noise
Sifting through my fear as I look for poise
Sifting through this world as I look for whats true
Sifting all my life for something like you

there's a fine line between stupid and clever. however this is better than any of my attempts at the whole repeating the same half a line over and over while changing the 2nd half of the line until we finally reach the end where we change the line just a bit to get that last point home with impact. so i say: clever. good work. hope you find that little piece of diamond in the sand.

I love that last line "sifting all my life for something like you"! Great write.. (and ignore herb... the rest of us do).
