Fear of flying

I hate it when you’re right
It’s always as if you know exactly what I mean
Holding back tears is a fight
But it’s because of you
Yet you never made me sad
So how is it that everything I’ve ever believed in,
Shattered at my feet
And you slowly lead me away from broken pieces
And you silently cry with me
And you gently wipe my tear away
And you know
You know what it is to cry
And it ***** scares me
Remember when I never used to cry in front of you?
So how do I tell the truth?
When deep down you know?
That when I look around me whenever we’re together
I’m actually checking
The world hasn’t fallen apart
Checking both feet are still on the ground
Was that a smile on your face?
A knowing look in your eyes?
Was that comfort when you held me?
Was that a tear that just rolled down my cheek?
I couldn’t tell
We both hide it so well
I couldn’t think clearly, holding back tears
In fear of losing everything I never deserved
I never deserved you
Yet you stand by my side
So was that a beat coming from my heart?
Was that you, loving me back?
