My day

Contributed by nebill on Wednesday, 9th October 2002 @ 05:10:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Dark and cool
When me and ol' Liberty
roll out the front door.

The sky is black.
As black as the hearts
Of some who were friends.

A million stars twinkle,
Like the twinkle
In my Lady's eyes.

And this is the way it is,
As I set out,
To begin the day anew.

The headlight casts a glow
On the road in front,
Taillight blinking furiously.

The illuminated roadway
Becons me on,
The bike urges speed.

I push the pedals
and Town fades behind me
Into the country I go.

The darkness hides the creatures,
So I can not see thier reaction
To this silent aparition.

A mile, then two,
Then five, and ten.
Now back to where I started.

I climb up the Hill,
Heart pounding in my chest,
Cool clean air in my lungs.

The sun is now rising,
Magnified by the atmosphere,
And it looks astounding.

The sky is now ablaze,
It is going to be a great day.
Full of wonderful things.

I continue upon my way
My legs a little heavy,
But my heart is light.

And as it turns out,
The day was extraordinary
Could hardly ask for more.

By the time I head for home,
My spirits are soaring,
And I am at peace.

Thanks to Mother Earth,
Thanks to my bike,
And thanks to my friends.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
