THE CATSKILL MOUNTAINS

Contributed by angelrae on Wednesday, 19th May 2004 @ 10:33:47 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Awesome are the Catskill mountains,
Full of beauty and life.
Streams running through the mountains so
clear and sparkling like champagne.
Ponds everywhere full of fish, newts,
tadpoles, lily pads floating.
These mountains have a character of their
own.
Peaceful, content, smiling for its freedom.
Trees of all kinds everywhere, breathing
the deep fresh air.
Deeply rooted in the ground of its
mountain.
Wildflowers growing, spreading its seeds
to all parts of the wondrous land.
All natural to the being of the Catskill
mountains.
Extinct birds flying like the bald eagle,
knowing no harm or suffering.
Soaring with no worries for its mate,
nor its young.
Wild animals roaming these mountains,
keeping to the natural order God created.
Many species of insects and butterflies as
if singing, welcome to my world.
The Catskill mountains, breathtaking,
energizing, vibrant, calling it's own.
Sounds, mysterious, all new to the ear,
excitement rises in the heart and soul.
Humans so small as an ant compared to
these great mountains.
To only learn what the mountains are
teaching so gracefully and mercifully,
to allow one to love this land of the mountain
so free.

This was a really beautiful write, and I have to agree the Catskills are very beautiful. My favorite place though would have to be those beautiful mountains right outside of new paltz. Well I think everyone loves going there in the summer time. Only because you could see for miles and miles, well i am sure you know where i am talking about. Anyhow this was a great tribute to our beautiful mountains.
