The Fragrance Of Love

The fragrance lingered, sweet and light. It touched the senses of his nostrils, teased the images that remained in his mind. He had smelled it before, the memory etched in the crevices of his being.
Tonight it seemed stronger, or perhaps it was because he was receptive to it's magic and the lure of her softness. This was no ordinary fragrance, it was the sweetness of her body, almost as if a candle had been lit and the warmth of their bodies lit the burning flame.
Through a thousand moments, or maybe it was only a fleeting second, the rapture of love released the delicate and sensual flow of a rose about to burst into bloom.
Other times it drifted across his body like the windswept honeysuckle on a summer night. And, in the heat of passion....Jasmine cast it's spell.
These were the fragrances of love, the sweet aroma of tender blossoms that he would forever remember as she lay, contentment surrounding her body.
Rising slowly and with no purpose other than to shield her, he placed the satin sheet across the now sleeping breast, kissed the lips that had shown him passion, and lay a single rose next to her........so that she when awaking would also smell the fragrance he had so enjoyed.

ahhhhhh then sense of smell, one of the most powerful, yet most often forgotton senses.
Very nice write, but he shouldn't leave her....not yet. |
