Snow glides down effortlessly onto the hardened soil below.
A crisp layer of drift on drift.
A knotted tree stands bleak and strong, its leaves all shed long before.
The air is heavy with bitter chill, the mist from dawn is rising still
Above the neat white blanket forming.
The old school bell no longer tolls.
The pond quietly sits with little joy.
An empty scene, yet all too full of calm and feeling.
