I am racing through
This unspoiled night.
Your eyes are canyons of truth,
Stretching in their hazel hue.
I see my way
Into the unlit sky,
Uncovering tiny stars,
Folded and tucked
Beneath the blackness.
You shine like a beacon
And my feet find speed unknown.
You say it's a place
To rest my head tonight...
I call it home.
I am running for and headed to
The warmth, the safety
Embedded in a time
Untarnished now.
I am there, there in your arms,
Unearthed from my ruin
To find myself cradled,
To see myself reflected.
It is unspoiled, this night,
And ever more beautiful because
You give it to me
Gently, quietly, honestly
And without having asked for.
