I give up
Hope you’re happy now
You’ve took all my life from me
Don’t want to argue anymore
Please stop this pain that you just don’t wanna see
You live in a complete and utter dream world
Where there’s no money, no rules and no cares
I fear for you, for when you finally grow up
You’ll get such a shock
But I’ll still be there to wipe away your tears
It’s called unconditional love what I feel
For you, although sometimes I despair
When you’re calling me names, and swearing at me
I so wish that I didn’t care
I know I must’ve let you down somewhere
Was it because you never knew your dad?
But the way that I felt
The way that I dealt
How can you miss something you never had?
I love you son, more than life itself
Wished for the best all your life through
I tried so goddamn hard
To change what you’ve become
But in the end, it’s all up to you.

Ali, this is lovely.
I don't believe for one minute this is your fault, I know you, and you are a wonderful Mum. Maybe its time to take a step back and let him learn his own lessons. Just be ready to catch him if and when he falls.
This is an emotional and excellent piece of writing, straight from your heart.
