Leave The Light On

Contributed by sweet-poison on Monday, 17th May 2004 @ 10:37:11 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I'm vulnerable in the dark,
The unknown becomes my threat,
The invisable fuels my fears,
Regular noises multiplied by wonder,
I plead for protection,
Be my knight and save me,
Wrap your winged sheild around my figure,
Leave the light on as you leave.

My thoughts scare me, In the dark,
Images of black eyes watching,
Your fingers creeping across my subconsious,
Your filthy tongue whispering nightmares,
I beg you to be silenced,
Extract your venom from my mind,
Remove your taunting from my dreams,
Leave the light on as you leave.

My mind is racing, In the dark,
Your none existant emotional abuse,
Leaves me broken in silence,
My body is violated and used,
I pray for the dawn to rid me of you,
The sun will be my saviour,
Your existance will be exceeded at dawn,
And, Please, leave the light on,
As you die.

Light has that effect of providing solace from the dark underworld, and fear. I love what you've done here.

sad, but true, not matter how safe we know we are I think everyone is always at least a little afraid of the dark.

Great poem, you've done a great job of expressing the fear. I myself hate the dark, when I'm alone I still sleep with a light on.

Great write.

I too hated the dark when I was a young child. Now I can hide in the dark it does not affect me anymore.
Good strong emotional poem.
Top marks.

Great write... there have been things that have happened in my life that has made me cautious of the dark... I'm not really scared of it just wary of it now...
Thanks for the great poem...

you know, I just read your poem 'listen for a while' not so long ago, and I was glad to see your mood lifted and more calm and positive, but now........hmmm.........it sounds like you are troubled again........something wrong? Or just one of these usual feelings everybody gets sometimes in the late dark nights?
