Shattered Fragments of My Mind

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Monday, 17th May 2004 @ 09:18:34 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

It's the last time I'm gonna give a second chance
I just wish this pain would fade away
I don't know why I thought you'd be any different
Left to burn, it's the same old story
I thought I meant more to you than I did after all
But I won't make that mistake again
'Cause your faces all look alike in my mind now
Guess I'll never know the whole story

Every time I think I'm okay
You show me I'm wrong and leave me to rot
Every time I glimpse happiness
You take it away
Cold hate fills me up
I guess you're not what I'm looking for

I thought you'd change your mind if you saw me crying
Maybe try to be a friend to me
I thought you'd feel my pain if you heard me screaming
But it seems in the end you don't care

Don't you see you've been deceived now?
You can't see the truth through the fire that burns
But when it breaks and falls apart
It won't be too late
I'll still be right here
The smoke will clear and you'll taste my tears

Every time I think I'll make it
You lock me in chains and I get nowhere
Every time I see the sunlight
You bring a downpour
I drown in your words
I guess you're not who I thought you were

Can't find my way
Too afraid to breathe out loud
Here in the dark
Nothing to start over with
But a shattered mirror, the fragments of my mind

Can't you see you've been deceived?
Too blind to see beyond the searing flames
But it breaks and you blink
And I'll be here
It's not too late
I really don't want you to taste these tears

But every time I think I'm okay
You prove me wrong and leave me to die
Every time I feel the sun
You pull me away
Fill me with hate
I guess we're not where we thought we would be

Dee....you know I love your poetry, ;) I've loved it since you first trusted me enough to share it with me...in fact I still have the copy of "Running" I printed off that windows 95 computer I bought around when we first started talking......*laughs* ok, I'm getting to sentimental for my own good, so I'll just say, keep kicking @$$ girl, I'm here for you

It is so strange yet how true that someone can pull your heart string and toy you in his palm just like that, sad isn't it..........I would like to comfort you to let it go but I wouldn't, because I been there before so I know it is not easy at all, so all I will say now is, good luck......

Whoa . . . am going to very carefully just comment on the way the poem was written: beautifully. Powerful and painful and, though this is gonna sound odd considering the situation, something I could actually relate to. And I have a lump in my throat so I won't write anymore right now . . . .

hugs to you in spite of what-all's happening.
