Dreams of an Insomniac

Close your eyes and breathe in deep,
It's heavy thoughts that prevent this sleep.
A crack of light and shadows on the wall,
they remind me of life and its inevitable fall.
The air is damp and a street light shines,
An ignition ignites and first gear grinds.
A whistling wind and the radio blares,
Inviting summer nights with unselfish cares.
I close my eyes and feel this last flight,
Eyelids sewn closed, it all turns to white.
