Earth Angel

Somber sleeping
dreams exposed
such a quiet angel
delicately composed

broken wings
wipe your your tears
before you sing
avoiding fears

kissing eyelids of a girl fast asleep
too young to die
too young to weep
too overlooked to pass by

Save her now before she gives in
to a world of hate
a world of sin
please save her now if you can

You may not be able to in this life
or even the next
this isn't meant to hurt
or even to perplex

She'll mend your wings and fly you far
and love you always for who you are
If from this world she slips away
know this was the only way

She'll watch you from the sky above
or God forbid far below
with eyes that no longer cry
saline tears of pain and hopelessness

But as for now her aching heart
still beats in her sleeping chest
Being the only reason her spirit is still grounded
The only boundary between this world and one to come

You're too good to be true
So if one day you take flight
and choose not to return
she'll understand
Heal your own wounds
Earth Angel, she's forever grateful
but not worth the trouble
