My Knight in Shining Armor Left

My Knight in Shining Armor

My Knight in Shining Armor disappeared,

Left me behind alone in grief and smart,

The hour had arrived that I so feared,

The hour destined for him to depart.

Desiring to buy time to be with him

Some weeks, or hours, or perhaps some days

He drank a bitter cup unto the brim

My knight, so brave, felt buying time lacked grace.

My darling husband begged me to make rhyme,

And to attend to writ and poetry,

And looked not at the sand glass of his time

But watched my scribbling with alacrity.

“Go! - write some poetry, go on and write!

Don’t stop your writing dear because of me!”

Thus from his sickbed spoke my dear brave knight.

“Pray do not stop to write your poetry”!

My knight that I called fondly: “Stevie-boy”

My guardian angel, mentor and my spouse,

Companion faithful in all grief and joy,

Departed and so empty is the house.

My Knight in Shining Armor he had heard

A voice that stirs up life from ash and sod,

Obeying call and summons of the WORD

My Knight arose to meet his Lord and God.

.In memory of my beloved husband Stephen

Oh my dear friend ED,
I know the courage it took for you write that about your beloved Husband......you are so brave, and you have offered to all the true meaning of real true love, for those who think only of their mate, even when they are dying are showing us a wonderful example of what love is all about. It's not about sex, or all the feelings of the flesh, but consideration and kindness and treating your mate the way you would want to be treated!
I'm so so sorry dear friend for your loss and I only wish I had the power to bring him back, but if he had to come back ill and suffering, then I know you are like me, I'd rather mourn and never have them back, than to see them suffer over and over.
Thank you so much ED for sharing this with us
Warm love
